Holiday Activity And Food (HAF) Programme
We are pleased to offer DfE’s Holiday and Food Programme (HAF) scheme. The programme is aimed at providing healthy food and enriching activities for primary and secondary school aged children who are eligible for benefit related free school meals
We can offer 64 hours of provision during the summer holiday and 16 hours during the easter and winter holidays, at no cost to you. The sessions will include a healthy meal and a variety of exciting activities. Children may participate in arts and crafts, play games, read or chat amongst themselves in a safe and secure environment. Planned activities are age group related. We are a self-directed PLAY based provision. “Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play, by following their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way for their own reasons.” This is very different from the classroom environment, which can be (and sometimes needs to be) a very structured environment. Children will learn other skills that they need in the growing up process, but in a different way to school.
